Our Story
What's our story?
Everything began in Georgia...
Where is Georgia? It’s the place where the world’s oldest wines are believed to originate and where one of the first Christian states was established. Despite its turbulent past, Georgia remains one of the true gems of the Caucasus Mountains. And we, Hungarians, are not strangers to its people. Georgians often consider Hungarians their relatives, or at least a nation with a similar history.
This connection is rooted in the legend of the "eighth Hungarian tribe", which was said to have been lost in the Caucasus—an idea more widely known in Georgia than in Hungary. A shared sense of fate also unites us, as Georgia suffered throughout its history from many of the same conquerors and oppressors as our own homeland.
Wine is a bottle of poetry.

The Friendliest People...
Bondo Kantaria
Restaurant Owner and Manager
I came from Tbilisi to Budapest in 1989 with the aim of making Georgian culinary art and culture known by people living in Hungary. In the Aragvi Restaurant you can try excellent dishes from the Caucasus prepared to you by our Georgian restaurant staff. In our restaurant, you can taste the best vines and the deservedly famous mineral waters and refreshments, brought directly from Georgia.

Cook
I was very happy when Bondo invited me to come to Hungary, to work in his restaurant. It was interesting to me to have the opportunity to get acquainted with another country and culture. It is a challenge to me that I can present my homeland’s tastes, I can pass my knowledge and experiences. It is a fantastic feeling that I can enrich the list of your favorite comestibles with new dishes and flavors.
Stefan Matok
Waiter
I arrived from Serbia to Budapest a few years ago and I was happy in my waiter role to join the team of the Aragvi Georgian Restaurant. When I work, I meet really many people every day. I take my tasks seriously, I fulfill happily and willingly the requests of the visitors coming to us. There is no better feeling than when the guest thanks satisfied for the dishes offered or served by me.

"In the cozy restaurant in Buda, I could find nice atmosphere, friendly service. This restaurant is beautiful. Dishes are outstanding, with fresh, flavoury, special combinations of tastes. The salmon stake is a true bomb of flavors. I can only recommend this place! The service is faultless, the staff members pay attention to needs different from the simple ones as well."
Judit Gallai, English teacher, Miskolc
"We like to eat out at Aragvi because we are surprised by appetizing, tasty dishes at all times. Here everything is made with unique, special Georgian spices. These delicacies are new but very savory to us. The restaurant is amazing, I can only recommend it. The quality place, the atmosphere, the abundance of dishes and the famous, excellent-quality Georgian wines represent truly the authentic Georgian cuisine and hospitality."
Andrea Vargányi, deputy store manager, Budapest
"I had not known Georgian dishes before, therefore I expected with interest what new impressions I would acquire. I love eating here, I could consume these delicious dishes all the time. At the event that we held here, our tables were full of all kinds of delicacies. Khachapury and the Chicken Under a Brick became my all time favorites. I can guarantee that I will return here frequently, because I enjoyed this place very much."
